So I was out in Spencerport, NY to take care of financial business at Key Bank. On the way there, a bunch of kids were trying to do a car wash fundraiser at the local McDonalds. If anyone was paying attention with the news at the Spencerport High School, the central school was hosting a Food Truck Rodeo fundraiser event this past Thursday (8/20/15). Due to the weather, it was canceled. In my opinion it was a premature move. The weather that day was great after 5:30pm. However, in my other job - we were trying to host one too. The thing is, the Food Truck needs about 500 people that are going to be spending money on them. They had about 20 Food Trucks... so! 20 Food Trucks times 500 people equals to 10,000. That's a lot of people that are going to be spending money on the event! Plus if you think about it, the time frame was from 4pm-9pm. There is 5 hours to work with 10,000 people. So even if you cut it from 6pm-9pm that's a 3 hour work spend. That really doesn't give people a lot of time to enjoy the event. Plus the Food Truck people to enjoy it as well; because, well they love to see people too! So I gave a donation of $10 to the Spencerport Girls Swimming Team. $5 for washing the car and $5 for drying the car - makes sense if you ask me. I did ask one of the adult volunteers if there was a rain date - at this time it is unknown. Since the Food Trucks are booked in advance it might be next year! I will love to go to one! Just to experience it. In the mean time, for those who wants to support the school the rule of thumb is $5.00 per item. Oh before I forget, the Greece Athene School are selling a gift cards for $15.00. They offer a variety of discount items too. Another great way to help and support local kids with their causes! Hope this helps out if anyone is wondering how much to give out. Well, off to eat left over pizza and wings for lunch!
