It's sad to see something like this appearing close to home. This was photographed yesterday (9/8/15) on my day off.. to be honest, I was shocked to see it. This isn't the first time this has happen to me, when I used to live out in Barker, NY - growing up, a lot of us would go to the Palace Theater in Lockport, NY. Back in 1998, the theater stopped showing movies. The following year (1999), the Palace Theater transform into live plays. In time though, the Palace Theater did show some movies now and then. This summer, my friend - Joe and I went to the Drive In out in Middleport, NY. Even going out there twice, the attendance isn't like what it used to be. Is it due to the fact of not many blockbuster movies this year? Is it the cost of a movie? Is it the cost of the concession stand? Is it because there is Netflix, Hulu Plus, Amazon Instant Video? Is it because there are less people in NY? If you are asking me - what do you mean by that - as in less birth rates in NY. Do people listen to movie critics before making that comment of spending money on a movie? Is it because of the past security problems that happen 3 years ago in Colorado? So many questions, there is going to be a lot answers down the road. To me if I do lose our local theater, it would mean supporting a bigger theater which I am not a fan of. So for the time being, I will try my best to support my local theater; because, some day when I get marry and have children (or a child) - I will love to keep that old tradition of bringing my family to a local theater! So please, keep supporting your local movie theater or even a drive-in first before going to a major theater instead; because, if we lose this, we will regret it!
