As a photographer, I had to make a decision about why I am using Twitter and Facebook. To be honest, I barely use either one. I know some organizations and/or other photographs use Twitter and Facebook. The reason I am no longer using Twitter; because, at one point of my life – I thought it made perfect sense to use it at the time. Now, I really don’t understand the whole purpose for my company anymore. As far as Facebook goes and this is in my own opinion. Facebook is good for a certain point of what you need it for. As far as my company, at first I thought it would be great to show off my work even if I have a watermark on my photographs. However, Facebook claims your rights even if you have a watermark on a photograph. So photographs and future photographs – I suggest not using Facebook unless you are using web links to show off your work (your website or your blog). I know it is a pain, but you have to think about it – either way – regardless if the person paid you to photograph them – you are giving your work to Facebook for free. Even Facebook users should understand that even if you are posting up any photograph of you or someone else and if something happens to you – anyone could go to Facebook without you noticing it and publish it asap. It is a world that we live in. So I urge people to think first before posting many photographs of anything. Who knows, you might have a great photograph that you took that could be worth money some day. Don’t give it away! There are somethings that you and I work hard for that shouldn’t be given away for free. So for now on, I am now going to start using only my site or blog.
